Metropolitan Community Church of Corpus Christi helps alleviate some of that hunger by buying food from The Corpus Christi Food Bank, receiving donations from individuals and distributes, in an equitable manner, to hungry people with no discrimination of any kind. In 2005 this food was given to approximately 1050 families, 3675 persons.
The emphasis for distribution is not on nutrition alone but on helping people to save some of their own dollars to use for basic goods. We do this by providing many snacks which would, otherwise, be bought with limited funds. This ministry is carried out by church volunteers and draws clients from many areas within the city.
Mortgage Retirement Committee
The Mortgage Retirement Committee (MRC) is charged with raising funds to pay off our entire building by 2017 or sooner. The largest fundraiser we have is our $52 Dinner. This annual event is held the second Saturday in April of each year. Tickets for this event may be purchased over time or all at once. See http://www.mcccorpuschristi.org/52.html form more details about this years dinner or to purchase tickets. Other events are held throughout the year as well.
Lay Delegate
Our current Lay Delegate is Andy W. and our Alternate Lay Delegate position is Vacant. They are primarily responsible for represnting Metropolitan Community Church of Corpus Christi at our Regional and General Conferences and bringing information back to the congregation. They are also responsible for raising the funds to pay for their trips to these conferences and are currently selling t-shirts to help with this. Click here to see and/or order a t-shirt.
Care Team
The mission of the Care Team of MCCofCC is to care for each of its congregants to the best of their ability. We will be following the command of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to care for sick, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and to the best of our ability visit the lonely and those in prison.
Reasons for having a Care Team -- To the best of our ability we will:
1. See that no one is EVER left out.
2. Bring comfort to the lonely.
3. Visit the sick whenever or where ever needed (home or hospital). Care for the family member who is in need of comfort or support or both.
4. To make the church more of a family.
5. See to it that most physical needs are met, i.e.: food, clothing, bedding, meds (pick up or have filled when needed) as well as spiritual needs, prayer, communion, or just some plain ‘ol visitation.
6. Being available to those in need.
Missions Ministry
The mission of the Missions Ministry is to aid our congregation in helping those in our church and in our community with a variety of needs and services. We will be showing the love of our church, the Lord, and of Jesus Christ through our actions and by caring about those who are less fortunate and in need.
